Here's what's being said about
"LEGENDS"
(All comments found on bulletin boards or email)
NICE WORK! I feel that
Hollywood pats itself on the back way to much, your work here is just as
good as certain friday sequels, I'm impressed, I think you need to do
more cool work like this, excellent effects too, the kills were
IMPRESSIVE and very typical friday the 13th, freakin great movie! A+
Oh one more thing, your actors did very well, especially whoever played
jason, his movements and actions were a LOT like Kane Hodders, sweet
film!

Great fan film! It's a shame Hollywood won't let a FAN direct a Friday
the 13th Film...

Interesting, but in a good way. You seem to know how the movies work,
because the production looks like " The Friday" movies. Nice
to see someone fight back, and actually stand a chance, sort of. Jason
actually looks like Jason. Not some cheesey rip-off. You even got the
look of number 8 and 9, very creative, and also true to what a real fan
is, good job. You should do another with a different monster such as::
Michael Myers, Leatherface, and Freddy. Some suggestions.

Whoa totally awesome, the fan movies are usually so lame but this one
was like pretty much big screen quality. amazing work. I wanna be in a
fan movie now! :)

Well it’s been a long time since I have done a
review. And to come back to something I enjoy and finding a film worth
reviewing is something that happens every 15 or so mediocre films. First
and foremost Legends just blew me away.
The acting from everyone in the cast was above average and beyond most
indie films. The reason for this was rather than reading a script and
being all over dramatic. It really seems like everyone was just trying
to be themselves on camera and it really worked. Having friends in this
film worked in this instance, as everything seems to play off each very
well.
The film started off with introducing characters and moving the plot
along. There wasn’t much gore or kills in the first half of the film.
But the director made it a point to add a couple of jump/scares early on
to setup for the big ending. And when Jason arrives things pick up
rather quickly with deaths and kills that rival the original F13.
This is as good as it gets in terms of fan films. For a 50 minute movie
I question if this could hold my attention for the duration of the film.
And I can honestly say that it did and I can’t wait for the sequel.
Best Fan Film I've Ever Seen!

Legends is a fan-film extension of
the Friday The 13th series, available on the Internet. Originally
created as an entrant to the "Mania Fest Friday the 13th Cut 'Em Up
Film Contest", this film was, unfortunately, not finished in time
to take in any accolades. Too bad, too, 'cause I think it could've
gotten a couple of awards for makeup and effects.
The actual plot is not
that bad. What would I have expected other than kids going camping and
getting cut up? The plot is pretty good in that respect. It takes a
while to get going, and what I've deemed the 'prelude' was pretty
useless to the overall plot of the film. The twist 'endings' weren't
good. I said it to Spielberg and I'll say it to them, keep it to two or
less endings a film! The characters are good. They seem real enough in
there relationships. Some of the dialogue is spurious, but I'll let it
slide due to the campiness of the genre. The actors themselves interact
well with one another and look comfortable in their roles. The cannon
fodder 'lost couple' seemed ill-timed. A point of suggestion: drunken
redneck could've gone away and no one would've cared For the most part,
there is a fine grasp of composition. Except sometimes there's this
thing where the camera 'follows' the principals. I'll refer to this as
'the head shake effect'. This head shake effect doesn't work. I do like
some of the shot placements and the crane work was excellent. I
particularly enjoyed the 'above the ceiling fan' shot. Classic.
However, I will admit that once Jason shows up on scene though, this
visual style starts to work with the action on the screen. Some of the
scenes were way under lit Work on the cuts a little bit, as they tend to
go a little long. Music placement was really quite excellent. It really
heightened the mood, the way good musical cues should. Props and special
effects were, quite simply, great. The head in the beer cooler was
amusing. I absolutely adored the heart, possibly the best moment in the
film (so cheesy, so campy, it's perfect for a Jason fan-film). I wasn't
that thrilled about the baseball bat. I would've gone with the pool cue,
since that had been established in an earlier shot. Fairly nice blood
work overall. I enjoyed the 'lifting of the car' bit. I will say that
they did a great job on costumes. Superlative job on Jason, especially
for a fan-film. There's some that would've shaved some guy's head, stuck
him behind a mask and thrown him in a janitor's suit. They've got bone
showing. That adds nicely to the effect.
Overall, I'll give it a solid B. The plot needs work but is enjoyable
and I think editing would help it a lot. The camera work needs
improvement, but doesn't detract as a whole from the film. The sound job
really hinders the production. Despite these faults, the actors and the
special effects really make this film worth watching. All in all, I hope
for improvement on future works..

BRAVO! BRAVO! I must be
honest, you have probably the best fan film I have seen! You took time
to scout your areas, your cast is solid, props are realistic, (your girl
is wicked hot :-D), your jason looks like part 7,and your ending is a
surprise. I liked how Jason was very real. Movements and everything just
like a real f13. If your doing another film f13 i wanna be apart of it!
Kudos!

I saw the full half hour or so lengthen version of this, and it's a

Awesome, looks very professional. Loved the clicheed

type of film.

I liked it quite a bit. What with the "Its good for a fan made

some studio releases Ive seen. A more appropriate response would be
"Its really good, especially for being a fan made film."

It was definitely the best fan made movie I ever seen. I can't believe I
actually was entertained the whole time by a fan made movie. It had a
pretty good story and some good film editing.
CITY OF THE DEAD
______________________________________________________________________________________________
Of the horror fan films I've been exposed to, this
one is the most solid. It's lows are confined to a limited story and
patches of cheesy dialog here and there. The story could have used a
little more depth and expanded on the characters' backgrounds. The
ending was, unfortunately, redundant and a little cliché. Fortunately,
the highs make up for it with admirable delivery from the cast, great
direction and phenomenal editing. It looked like an actual sequel,
complete with trademark close-ups and character blocking. Done on what I
can only assume was a segmented shoe-string budget, I got all the
makings of a good cut- em-up film. As a slasher film enthusiast, I don't
mind watching this a few more times.

I just wanted to
extend a huge congratulations on your film 'Legends'. I downloaded it
yesterday after stumbling across a thread and as a long-time Friday
fan, I was so thrilled to finally see a fan film that lived up to the
franchise. I downloaded the trailer first (which made me jump,
something quite a few of the Friday films failed to do in full, let
alone simply a trailer) and then the movie. You have created a piece
of work that is worthy of being part of the film series, and
there is no bigger praise I can give than that! The direction and
cinematography was stellar and the make-up / special effects was
incredible too, not to mention Jason who looked beyond perfect. I'm
still in awe and getting my head around it all. Congratulations again,
you have made this slasher fan from Australia a very happy camper (pun
intended) ;) !

EBEN
(NecroComicon: Friday the 13th Fan Film Contest)
I just watched this one last night.
Well done!
Some great gore effects, a great Jason, and some very strong
direction/editing.
PENHALL
One of the most professional looking
fan film with professional-esque directing, lighting, editing, etc, that
I have seen.
SCABBOY
This the best editing I've seen in an
amateur film. Great fades, multi camera angles, seemless transitions.
Nice job. The sound editing was great too. In most fan films you just
hear whatever that camera records, but good job with the soundtrack
playing through scene changes and different angles.
If you got your hands on a really good script, and produced it with the
same quality that Legends had, you'd have a killer film
ON A PALE HORSE
Direction:
Good and inventive, some very interesting angles
Acting:
Good enough to make it convincing but not too exaggerated (sp?) just the
right amount
Horror/Suspense:
There's not much horror actually but the increasing suspense was good
enough to keep me watching
Plot/storyline:
I think it was good, but I also think that it could have been done a
whole lot better, the objective of the film (What if your horror icons
were not fiction?) attracted my attention
Sound:
OMG!!! I loved the sound, for me it gave that kinda 3d realism
feeling...although sometimes I couldn't hear what they were saying (had
to turn up my speakers)
Overall:
Excellent, having in mind it's a fan film I wouldn't mind seeing some
sequels or movies from the same director and/or writer

This film was very well
done and had a very professional feel all throughout.
The acting was top notch for a Horror film, the fast pace and occasional
humor of the film kept you interested through all fifty minutes. The
special effects and gore looked great, and most importantly
Jason looked just as menacing as his Hollywood counterpart.
Other things to note are the great camerawork and soundtrack which
topped it all off as an overall winner. Next to other fan films this is
one of the best Horror Fan Films I have seen in a long time.
FANBOY WILL
Ha,
that was pretty decent. I can't believe I watched it all, being 50
minutes and all, I'm rather surprised at myself. Good job, I know how
much time and effort has to be put into these things and I'm glad you're
showing the enthusiasm and getting it done. That one line cracked me up
big time, it was this one...
"Oooh, I can’t ask John because John’s with Laurie, they went
to the supermarket, something about getting marshmallows and condoms? I
think they’re gonna make s’mores!"
Hahaha, I had to watch that part again because it was so funny. That
actor had good screen presence and delivered that line perfectly. The
"homeboyz" supplying the major cast was annoying as hell, so I
was rooting for Jason to knock em' all off. The horror villain talk was
rather lame, too Scream-esque, but that's forgivable. There was one
really good jump scare, and when the action picked up near the end it
was well done. Some of the camera shots were really great, making Jason
look bigger than the actor was who portrayed him. Good gore shots, nice
camera trickery. The shower scene was a great way to end it, very
"classic slasher".
Good job, keep up the good work.
NOSFERATUSCREAMS
Just
got done watching all the behind the scenes stuff and I enjoyed
it.
Being into filmmaking myself, I got a kick out watching the stuff.
Hopefully we'll be seeing some more horror from you in the near future.
DANNYTSK8ER78
My biggest gripe with
it is, we don't see one kill until 26 minutes in. While I appreciate the
effort put into developing the characters, it was a little too much. But
this does have a better plotline than almost all the F13 films since it
actually has a plot to begin with.
Acting was certainly on par, if not better than the actual films, so
bravo for that.
Now for the great parts, namely Jason himself. The costume looked great.
You definitely used the best design. His acting was excellent as well.
It's good to see that the actor studied and knew how Hodder played him
so his performance matched very well.
What little we see of Freddy is cool, but again, I wish there could have
been more.
Overall I think this film should either be longer or shorter.
A shorter edit could pare down the first part and get to the meat of the
film sooner.
(Again, I commend you for taking the time to develop the characters, but
it was just too slow.)
A longer cut could allow Freddy more screen time and add to the action
part of the film, which almost seemed rushed.
Fans of Jason will get a kick out of this, I would recommend watching
it.
Nice work.
ROGUE_09
I just wanted to say
that I really enjoyed this film it was very well made! IMHO it was
better then a lot of the real Friday the 13th films. Jason looked
outstanding...
ALIENSFILM
I
normally wouldn't sit through a 50 minute fan film, but I just watched
the little Freddy VS Jason clip it was well done. WOW, LEGENDS was good
the time passed by pretty quickly. I like the shots through the camera.
The date even said it was Friday the 13th the kills looked really good
and professionally done.
I felt like I was watching F13-11 or something.
ZEROXPOTENTIAL
Awesome film,
kicked but all the way through. I'd pay to see it @ the movies.
Keep up the good work, Bravo
BOOFJIGGA
It totally rocked! I'm definitely
recommending it to my friends that like fan films.

Very
enjoyable film! Jason looks AWESOME. The acting was better than most
Friday films!
GREAT locations.
MIKE
Moves Production
Great directing,
terrific performances. Just basically an outstanding film all together.
This is what amateur fan film should look like. By far the best amateur
film I have seen yet.
CHRIS LOTT
CEO of Dreams Pictures
Great job. I really
liked it. All the actors were believable and did a great job. I like the
choice of songs for the opening and ending credits. Everything about it
was great.
DESTROYER
Great job done. I
spend allot of my free time watching fan films, and you'd think I'd get
tired of it (Truth be told, I do sometimes, making some of my ratings
lower then I normally would make them), however this kept my interest
through-out the entire thing. The acting was great, not just for a fan
film, but for any film. Sure, it might not be award-winning or anything,
but this is a horror film after all. A teen slasher above that even. The
gore and make-up was just like from a real Jason movie, and had me, a
huge Friday the 13th fan boy, practically drooling like a schoolgirl
that finally got asked to the school prom by the hottest boy in school.
The music fit in perfectly, and I loved the use of the Evanescence songs
during the opening and closing credits (Although I would have preferred
you used a less well-known and not quite over-played song for the
closing credits - they do have allot of really good ones that aren't
overplayed).
I'm a huge fan of long fan films personally, and seeing as how most are
anywhere from 5 to 15 minutes, having a 40 minute one is always a
pleasure. But I enjoyed this so much, I really wish it was longer (With
of course a couple more kills throughout to keep it going). I really
would enjoy seeing an extended version in the future sometime, but I
know the chances of that are slim to none, so I guess I can always hope
for some kind of a sequel in some way, possibly.
I give this a full 5/5 or 10/10, whichever scale you choose. I believe
I've only ever given that full rating to 3, maybe 4, other fan films in
total. Great job done guys and I look forward to seeing more of your
work in the future and really hope you do manage to get to work on a
real Friday the 13th film some day. If not, you can always make some sequels
to your own fan film, or do fan films to other horror franchises
JEFF LONG
It was one of the best
fan films I've seen, a really professional product, the acting, special
effects, editing and script all came together in a great way. I love the
way you used the Freddy Vs Jason film score to great effect to add
tension and atmosphere all the way through the film
MAD ASH
It takes talent and
hard work to put a movie together, of any type. I thought the characters
were very believable, and the acting was better than most B horror films
I've seen. The editing was good, and it had a couple of good
hitchcockesque scares. Anyways, good job......
AIRSHIFT
I really enjoyed it for
an hour long fan film it kept my interest all the way through. The
acting was decent, even great in some parts. Make up effects and gore
were outstanding as was the camera work.
Great film and definitely worth the download......
PSYCHO MAN 13
I've been looking forward
to your film for a few months now, after watching the trailer. I loved it!
I thought that the acting was great by all the people, and that they were
truly believable... When the characters are first driving down the road,
it reminded me of something you'd see in a Friday movie. I thought the
gore was good, I thought all your 'cheap' scares were used pretty
effectively. Because they mentioned Freddy a lot, I didn't know if some
parts were dreams so I thought that was used really effectively. I liked
Graeme Revells score, and thought it worked well with your film. I loved
the "Camp Suckacoochie" guy...he was hilarious and my favorite
character of them all.
Overall, I give your film 9/10. Good characters, Good acting (everyone was
good but my favorites were Obie Diaz, Jennifer Ayala, and Omar Vazquez),
and Great special effects. Good luck in the future man...
SMOKEY
Legends
was EXCELLENT! I mean, not just by fan film standards but it was that good
I would pay money for it. The end chase was so tense my sister and I were
actually on the edge of our seat screaming
"GO GO!".
Everyone's acting was superb, especially Laurie who is very beautiful. You
can tell you guys had a great time making it
CULPBZ
The editing and camera
work are fantastic. There are some shots like the dolly shot you do with
your main character which worked marvelously.
The FX work well.
Overall, a damn good project!
JB
______________________________________________________________________________________________
I must say good job guys!
I'm serious when I say that this can be compared to the actual Jason
films. The acting, cinematography and gore was all there.
The Good:
Great locations, and I had no problem with any of the acting. The girl who
gets killed next to the glass did a fantastic job. A couple of the guys
were a little cheesy at times, but that's just how us guys really are! I
loved the gore, especially when the bat was stuck in the guys chest and
the blood was pumping out. The part where he stabs through the girl and
through the glass was absolutely bad ass. That kill in my mind goes right
up there with the best of the kills in the actual movies. I also thought
it was hilarious that the stupid girl didn't think to go try another door!
LOL! Typical horror movie bimbo!
The Okay:
The heart scene. The other complaint was that you have to wait 30 minutes
for any killing. I know there was a lot of character development, but I
personally don't care about any characters in a Jason movie--I just want
to see them all die! The biggest complaint about this movie: It wasn't
long enough. I think you should have gone for the extra 20 minutes and
make it an hour and a half. Throw in a few more kills (some at the
beginning), and some titty shots.
The Technical:
Excellent editing, lighting, and camera work.
Overall, a very entertaining piece, and I wasn't ever bored (despite the
30 minute holdover). All the characters were believable, and even the view
through the camcorder was a nice touch. Great looking Jason costume too.
Anyone who hasn't seen this should not call themselves a Friday the 13th
fan if they pass on the opportunity.
Great work
BRAXTANFILM
When I saw the trailer I
was stoked to see this film. I had to see it. And I did. I enjoyed what I
saw for the most part. I thought some scenes could have used some more
coverage just to give the atmosphere (which was wonderfully built) a
little more umph! But your angles of the majority of your shots were
nicely done. Very creepy and slightly off kilter which again helped with
the creepy atmosphere.
The setting was great. Where ever you got that location, kudos on that one
man because it rocked. I do think you could have used the interiors more
though. Shooting outside, with a main road nearby can be hell on sound, so
using inside locations is always a good alternative. The interiors I saw
looked very cool. I was imagining just what might happen in the room the refrigerators and such. Even the room with the pool table could have
proved interesting for a kill scene. But don't get me wrong, the way
you've written and shot the movie is your vision and nobody else's.
The acting is probably the best I've seen in a fan-film so far. The cast
was great. I think they used the swearing a little too much and for me.
I think you worked very hard on this film and it shows. It has the
production value above the average fan-film a bar has been set in
fan-film making. You should be very pleased with this film, It's a lot of
fun.
Cheers,
V13
That was a badass movie I
loved how they tied Freddy in there.
DRUMHEAD SLAYER
Nice,
very nice! The acting is pretty damn good and I liked the sort of cheesy 80's slasher feel with the characters and dialogue. The special effects
and editing were awesome and the deaths were bloody.
Overall, it was very entertaining and I enjoyed it. Good job.
DANNYTSK8ER78
That kicked ass.
Acting: 9/10
Feel: 9/10
Story: 8/10
Rewatch Value: 7/10
Kudos: 9/10
Good job
THE
MAGICIAN
For
starters I'd just like to say.... WOW... My review is as follows...
as a true horror fan, I have to give extreme kudos to this film for being
true to the slasher genre. It had the look and feel of the modern slasher
film. Also, I have to say that as recent horror films go, this film rates
up there as being one of the better ones. it kept the mood dark and eerie
with the proper lighting and music The acting was VERY good. the actors
were very believable in their roles, and the dialog was very good. I had
no problem believing that these were real people, rather than characters
in a story.
As for Mr. Jason... I'm glad you went with that costume design, as it is,
IMHO, the best Jason look next to the Tom Savini design. the actor
portraying Jason did a very good job, and judging from his performance (as
well as the acknowledgments in the credits) he obviously studied Kane
Hodder's performance well, as the head movements and characteristics were
ALMOST dead on...
As for the story. I found it to be well thought out and very well
executed. At the end I even found myself thinking that this film could
have been a full 90 minutes, rather than just 41... I would have gladly
sat through it at feature length.
Now for the production... I loved the cinematography on this film. the
camera shots were all very well laid out. Every camera angle helped to set
the mood and keep the viewer's attention. The use of the video camera
footage was well done.
I even liked the opening credit sequence... lol
All in all I found this to be a more than worthy effort. I was highly
entertained, I was interested in these characters, and I found myself
wanting more when it was over. As someone who grew up as a horror fan, I
feel confident in highly recommending this film to others. Congratulations
on a wonderful film, and I greatly look forward to seeing more from your
studio in the future...
-B
Well, I think that this
was a great horror film for what it is. It is NOT the easiest thing to do
horror. People tend to chalk it up to something simple. But really its
not, and I think you have captured what it is that you need.
The cinematography in this was great. I loved the fan shot with the heart
beat. That was my favorite shot in the movie.
The acting for the genre was GREAT, and they deserve serious codos. A
great sense of fear and action. The Jason (and the actor playing him) was
VERY well done. Its not easy to act as Jason. Being in a mask is hard to
act in.
The ending was okay. I have to admit that's what I thought was going to
happen. But held very strong to the end. A really great film. And truly I
had allot of fun watching it.
This really shows the talent available here. not just in story but in
makeup FX, and cinematography.
But all in all I loved it I had to go back and watch my collection again,
which is great I have not done that in a long time. Very good job.
